I. 28 Januar 1970 - Dr. Steininger Briefing. Messrs.
Chapman, briefed Dr. Steininger on current
thinking with respect to Mission II; he reacted favorably,
outlined SRC reconnaissance requirements and recommended a
briefing of Mr, Duckett. 25X1

answer key systems problems. At this time they proposed the use of
the Teledyne inertial navigation system, thus replacing the AI'tiPA
ground tracking station. As a result of this session, the joint workin
group became thoroughly familiar with the systems concept and

14. 23 March 1970 -Joint _Meeting. The joint working group
met for a final review of the scheduled Duckett bri.efin It w~.s

vehicle approaches and a system review from the OSP standpoint.
15. 3 April 1970 - Briefin of Dr. Robert Naka. Dr. Naka was
briefed by Messrs. Chapman on four of the ORD
advanced systems concepts, inclu in. Dr. Naks. was
interested in Mission II, but likewise appeare very much interested
in Mission I since the NRO had in the past expressed the need for
such capability to the Air Force. Mission I will, therefore, be
incorporated into the NRO briefing although, of course, Mission II
will be given primary emphasis.
16. 15 April 1970 - DD/S&T Briefing. The joint working group
presented the briefing outlined in paragraph 15 above- to Mr. Duckett
and Dr. Steininger. Mr. Duckett felt the briefing was generally in
goad shape for a briefing of the NRO. IIe recommended that additional
data was needed on the means by which the launch vehicle would be
accurately released, particularly during buffeting_ of the aircraft.
He suggested a number of changes iri'the~-briefing viewgraphs and
suggested that Dr. McLucas be approached on a rather low-key
basis whereby he would be invited to select the nature of the program
and the means and level of funding.
