Effective 15 December 1971, the National Photographic Interpretation Center (NPIC) assumed responsibility from the Central Reference Service (CRS) for the processing, storage, and retrieval of ground photography. The responsibilities for main- taining the Agency's photographic file of foreign personalities remains with CRS. 2. The Ground Photography Services Branch, Research and Reference Division, NPIC, has been established to maintain panels of the Agency's most recent ground photography acquisitions, to conduct detailed searches of its entire ground photography file and to provide collection guidance to official Agency travelers and other official travelers. The branch can assist such travelers through the provision of cameras, film, operating instructions, and the processing of any photographs that they may acquire. 3. The panels of recently acquired ground photo photography may be viewed in R 1-E-4808 Headquarters Building m Detailed searches of the entire ground p o ograp y file are conducted only Requests for such detailed searches must be directed to the Ground Photo raphy Services Branch, JOHN W.
