SUBJECT: Status Report on CIPC Projects and Activities--August 1986
1. Committee Meeting: The Committee did not meet in August to address

2. As a result of the CIPC's and your subsequent approval of the China
Follow-up report, our involvement in this problem has been concluded. The
follow-up report is currently being printed in final form for distribution to
the NFIP principals for implementation as appropriate.
3. NFIP Support to Contingency Operations: An interim report on NFIP
support to contingency operations was provided to the Acting DCI earlier this
month. F
4. Meanwhile, work continues on the final study. Plans now call for the
working group to begin reviewing a first draft in mid-September and to visit
selected commands with a coordinated draft some time shortly thereafter. The
CIPC expects to have a final draft for review before the end of September. As
indicated in the interim report, the working group believes the support
provided by the Community has been generally good in recent years, but in need
of improvement. The final study will include a number of specific
recommendations to enhance the efficiency of the process.
