CIPC Organizational Activities
? General Faurer has seen our proposal on addressing his concern
regarding the combat intelligence analysis issue. He has passed it to
heads up NSA's support to military operations, for 25X1
review and comment.
- We should be hearing from DIRNSA sometime this week on our 25X1
proposal. 25X1
? Your memorandum to regarding) (detail was 25X1
forwarded yesterday--hand carried.
- Also, I had a very good meeting with yesterday. He is 25X1
excited about joining us and views this assignment as career
enhancing. He plans to report to duty on 30/31 July.
? The Narcotics Study galley proof was returned to the print shop 25X1
today--we will now receive page proof copy within two-three days.
This marks the final step prior to hard cony aroduction.

CBW Study:
? At the 16 July CIPC meeting, the Committee remanded the CBW Study back
to the working group to review the TOR for the CBW subcommittee and
resolve any other outstanding issues. The CIPC members were charged
to provide guidance to their respective working group members
preparatory to the working group meeting. Additionally, DIA and Army
are to provide nominations for the chairmanship of the subcommittee.
The working group will reconvene on 25 July.
Narcotics Activity:
? lattended the 11 July State/INM biweekly Narcotics
Intelligence Coordination Meeting. The discussions centered on (1)
? Discussions were held with) I A/NIO/Narcotics on the agenda
for the 19 July NIO Warning Meeting on Narcotics.
China Study:
? A further revised draft of the CIPC China Working Group has been
completed and is being distributed. No major problems remain
unresolved, although there will undoubtedly be a few word changes.

Ballistic Missile Defense Study: - 25X1
? Initial galley proofs of the BMD study were received, reviewed, and
returned for correction. is also developing an overview briefing 25X1
on the study.
Counterterrorism: 25X1
? will draft a response to NSDD 138 based on the CIPC ranking 25X1
of the Community's counterterrorism initiatives. The response is due
to the NSPG by 31 July, so we plan to have the draft to you for review
not later than Monday morning, 23 July. Admiral Poindexter's guidance 25X1
on the response at the last TIWG meeting was simply to, "Keep it
short."
