Distribution: 0 - Adse 1 - D/Sec 1 - OS Registry Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2011/11/14: CIA-RDP89B01356R000100110003-4 Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2011/11/14: CIA-RDP89B01356R000100110003-4 4 August 1987 Management The Office of Security is undergoing unprecedented growth in people, budgets and programs. This growth, coupled to the intense focus by the Congress and the Executive Branch on recent security and counterintelligence problems, has propelled the Office to a level of prominence far exceeding what has been traditional for the Office. Transitioning from what was almost totally a traditional support activity to CIA to now one central to setting national priorities on security and counter- intelligence programs, Office of Security's management has had to invoke significant adjustments to organizational philosophies and managerial style. This growth and process of change has not been without pain, but is just short of being accomplished. Even in the traditional areas of clearance processing, major adjustments in the process have been made to better align OS's output to the staffing needs of the Agency. In the process, many of the traditional and parochial views of OS's management have given way to fresh ideas and a better way of doing security business. In general, rank and file employees of CIA have, as a result of broad-reaching security awareness programs, never been more aware of CIA's security programs, and for the most part their attitude is positive and upbeat.
