NOTE FOR: Deputy Director for Administration
FROM: John M. Ray
Director of Logistics
SUBJECT: ADP Support to DA Offices
REFERENCE: Memo for DDA from D/OIT, dated 2 Jan 87, Same Subject
1. At the DA Staff Meeting of 13 January, Hank requested my
comments regarding the proposal contained in reference.
2. I generally agree with the proposal and commend the
initiative of the Director of Information Technology. As you will
recall, I had an independent study conducted of our own ADP
STAT resources by of FBIS. 0 advises me that her
report will be forwarded to me within the next week or two.
Although I haven't seen the report as yet, my feeling is that her
recommendations will be in conformance with Ed's proposal.
3. I would like to have a little more time to review
STAT report before providing my final reaction to reference
proposal. I would also like to have the opportunity to verify the
numbers of positions contained in reference. Most important, we
must be extremely careful with respect to those Logistics
careerists performing ADP functions, assuring they have complete
freedom to choose between remaining in the ML Career Service or
converting to the MZ Career Service.
4. Bottom line--I don't think that my future detailed review
will alter my general concurrence with Ed's proposal.
