OFFICE OF
THE DIRECTOR
Dear Bob,
March 31, 1987
Thank you for your March 9 letter on the Agency's recently completed
security survey of ACDA. I appreciate the advice and assistance
provided by the team and commend them on their thoroughness and
professionalism. In my two meetings with the team, I was impressed
by them.
I am satisfied that, on balance, we are doing well in our security
efforts. However, I recognize that we have more to do. We are in
the process of reviewing and implementing the recommendations and,
in those cases where we require assistance outside of ACDA, we are
developing appropriate follow-up.
We will keep you apprised of our efforts as we move along.
Sincerely,
Kenneth L. Adelman
The Honorable
Robert M. Gates
Acting Director of
Central Intelligence

of the recently completed security survey of ACDA.
With strong leadership from you, the vigorous
implementation of these recommendations should provide ACDA
with the security posture which its sensitive and critical
mission deserves.
By copy of this memorandum, I am requesting the Senior
Intelligence Officer of the Department of State to report to me
in six months on the status of implementation of these
recommendations.
Sincerely,
