Weekly Report for Period Ending 3 June 1987
3. Professor Albert Carnesale of Harvard University discussed "Two Sides
of Strategic Arms Issues" on 1 June in the fifth of the Office of Training and
Education's (OTE) Soviet Affairs Lecture Series. Carnesale offered a
provocative look at the strategic, political and technological issues critical
in any arms control deliberations, and then focused on the US rationale and
Soviet response for the Strategic Defense Initiative.
4. OTE has begun the first eight-week summer training program for the 22
students enrolled in the Tuition Assistance Program. The Agency will provide
these university students Agency training and tuition assistance for their
last year of school with the understanding that they will become Agency
employees upon graduation.
6. Representatives of the participated in the
Metro Network Job Fair sponsored by the Department of Labor. Approximately
1,000 persons expressed interest in Agency employment.
