3. To prepare for upcoming negotiations with Cray Research, Inc., for the
acquisition of a Cray XMP/22 computer system,, office of Logistics (OL)
representatives toured the David Taylor Navy Ship Research Development Center,
which recently installed a Cray XMP/22 system.
4. On 28 May OL will begin moving the Office of Development and
5. The Office of Training and Education (OTE) has prepared the first
issue of a monthly newsletter from the Soviet Realities Institute. The
newsletter highlights coming events of the Institute and related programs in
the metropolitan area. Future issues will include bibliographies on selected
subjects.
Engineering (OD&E)
6. OTE's Language Training Division hosted a lecture by Emery Simon, a
US-Japanese trade expert from the Office of the US Trade Representative, on US
trade with Japan. OTE arranged the session in response to a suggestion from

7. Robert Kohler, President of ESL and former Director of our OD&E, will
give his views on executive leadership in the corporate world at the Executive
Seminar on 3 June.
8. The Office of Personnel hosted the second in the series of financial
planning seminars, "Managing Debt Load," on 6 May. The seminar addressed the
use of credit cards, the importance of credit ratings, types of assistance
available for those suffering from severe financial difficulty, and how credit
laws relate to the consumer.
