This is only the second annual Air Force
Intelligence Dining Out.
Last year retired LTG Tighe gave a history
of Air Force intelligence back to Korea through
Vietnam and up to the present -- lessons learned.
But unfortunately it was pretty dry -- lots of
data but was rather tedious (even for the Air
Force officers) let alone their spouses.
So it sounds like you can speak to almost
anything. You could probably tell some interesting
"President" stories -- tieing it altogether with
how the intelligence process works.

DEPARTMENT OF THE AIR FORCE
HEADQUARTERS UNITED STATES AIR FORCE
WASHINGTON, D.C.
July 29, 1986
Honorable Robert Gates
Deputy Director
Central Intelligence Agency
Washington, D.C. 20505
I would like to invite you to be the honored guest speaker at our annual
Dining Out on the 12th of September 1986. I wish to extend a special
invitation to your wife, Becky, to join us on the occasion. The Dining Out
will be held at the Fort Myer Officers' Club beginning with a social hour at
7:00; dinner is at 8:00 with entertainment and dancing to follow.
This is a special occasion bringing together many past and present
members of the Air Force Intelligence Community to enjoy some esprit de corps
and camaraderie. The event is further enhanced by the presence of spouses,
and is not nearly as structured as a Dining In.
Major Gary Stock (AF/INYX, the Pentagon, 695-4562) will handle the
planning for your attendance including transportation and assistance with your
remarks if you desire. Major Stock is available to help with arrangements or
with any questions you may have concerning the Dining Out.
As the new Director of Intelligence Plans and Systems, I look forward to
meeting you.
