Gates Acting Director Central Intelligence Agency Washington D.C. 20505 February 4, 1987 On behalf of the officers and members of the Dallas Council on World Affairs I want to express our deep appreciation for your outstanding presentation to the members and their guests on Tuesday 3 February 1987. As I am sure you noted, the attendees were most enthousiastic and appreciative of your remarks. Indeed upon reading the text of your speech this morning I am even more impressed with the incisive analysis of the problem our country and the world faces. I particularly think that the conclusion and your 10 points about what is to be done should have an even wider distribution and accordingly I am engaged this morning arranging a wider publication through our members. Let me say again how pleased we were to have you come and while we are fully cognisant of the many demands on your time and energy in the coming year, we want to take instant advantage of your kind offer to return under more favorable conditions when you are able to participate in a dialogue session with our members. I have in mind a time frame of November 1987 through February 1988. We will of course follow the usual request procedures. We look forward to having you back in Dallas when you can stay longer. Warm regards. WL/js/31 Very sincerely, W!11 T- LaTriiam Maj. Gen. USA (Ret.) Exec tive Director Declassified and Approved For Release 2012/01/13: CIA-RDP89GO072OR000600790002-7
