Gates Deputy Director for Intelligence SUBJECT: DDI Activity Report 11-15 March 1985 DCI/DDCI Assigned Tasks EURA and NI0/EUR briefed the DCI on Canada prior to the NSC meeting and the President's visit. Of Special Interest This Week ALA, NIO/LA, and Chief, Latin America Task Force, briefed James Michel, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, on support for insurgency in Central America. ALA briefed Senator Glenn on Nicaragua. NESA briefed Assistant Secretary o.f Defense Richard Armitage and Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Stephen Bryant on technology transfer to Iraq. OEA briefed Commerce DAS Diebold on China's computer and microelectronics industries. OSWR briefed Senator John Glenn on the Soviet space threat, ICBM trends and other related Arms Control issues. SOVA briefed the Deputy Secretary of Energy and the Assistant Secretary on Soviet oil exports, production, and the outlook through 1990. SOVA and NIO at Large (CW) briefed the President's Chemical Warfare Review Commission on the Soviets' chemical weapons stockpile and production capability. Looking Ahead EURA will host a one-day conference on political and economic issues facing Spain. OSWR will brief Dr. James Wade, USDR&E, on Backfire.
