SUBJECT: DCID 1/19, "Security Policy for Sensitive Compartmented
Information," Revision and Republication (U)
REFERENCE: Existing DCID 1/19, effective 28 June 1982
1. This memorandum recommends your approval of Attachment 1, the
revision of Director of Central Intelligence Directive (DCID) 1/19 that
concerns the security policy for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
This draft was accepted and received unanimous concurrence at the 12 January
1987 meeting of the DCI's SCI Forum after discussions and modifications dating
back to 1985. I strongly recommend that you approve the DCID before the
consensus is eroded by introduction of new personalities into the membership
of the SCI Forum. (U)
2. Those portions of the proposed DCID that are different from the
existing 28 June 1982 DCID are highlighted and numbered. Attachment 2, keyed
to the numbers, gives the reason for the modification. (U)
