Approved For Release 2011/06/07: CIA-RDP89T01156R000100030012-7 The Director of Central Intelligence Washington, D.C. 20505 National Intelligence Council T/~L c(,t16 IN/ NIC #01472-85 18 March 1985 MEMORANDUM FOR: Director of Central Intelligence Deputy Director of Central Intelligence FROM: John J. Bird National Intelligence Officer for Warning SUBJECT: Repercussions of Allegations of US Intelligence Support of Iraq 1. The recent London Times article stating that the US is providing intelligence information to Iraq may well cause a strong Iranian reaction, especially if Iran loses the on-going battle in the southern border area, as seems likely. 2. The Iranian reaction will probably include terrorist attacks against Americans and US interests, further heightening the threat situation in the Mid East.
