The DD/CO has reviewed a preliminary FY-87 funding allo-
cation plan and has authorized PBS to present the same to OC
Divisions in order to begin development of FY-87 spending plans.

Contract proposals are being received for the fabrication,
test, and delivery of the Enhanced Terminal. Cost and technical
evaluation teams are currently reviewing proposals in order to
select a contractor for negotiations and the eventual award of
a contract on or about 15 September 1986.

25X1 1? attended the fifth annual classified
Military Space Symposium. The symposium, sponsored by the
American Astronautical Society, was held in the Dean Acheson
Auditorium of the Department of State on 30-31 July. Military
and civilian dignitaries and space experts comprised the list
of guest speakers. The subjects covered during the symposium
ranged from communications capabilities to future military
applications of space sensors.
2. MPS representatives attended a demonstration of the
Image Data Corporation's Photophone in the ED Conference Room
on 30 July. The equipment appeared to be well-packaged, with
many state-of-the-art features applicable to OC's needs.
3. Discussions were held with a representative from OIT
on 28 July to review the methodology utilized by OC for tracking
requirements levied on OC by its customers. OIT plans to review
available material and documentation in the event they decide to
develop a comparable system of their own.

(PSD), visited the Recruitment Section on 29 July. She has
requested that OC, OP, and OMS coordinate on administering the
Project SCREEN testing to additional TCO applicants. This will
enable PSD to more rapidly develop the data base necessary to
satisfy the Project SCREEN goal.

4. Chief, Developmental Training Branch met with other
AMD personnel and Panel A representatives to establish procedures
for ensuring that there will be equity in secretarial training
under the new Secretarial Career System.
S. Ten students comprising Basic Telecommunications Class
3-86 commenced their formal training schedule on 28 July. Prior
to arrival at the Communications School, nine of the ten students

25X1 With assistance from CSD has completed
testing of the Grid-Second Phase Automated Relay Switch (SPARS)
interface. This will allow the Grid compass computer to be used
in SPARS security certification. Use of the Grid for security
testing should minimize the impact on operations and eliminate
the need for hardware reconfiguration of the SPARS during the
tests.

Formal acceptance testing of the MERCURY packet

LOA! The testing has thus far proceeded at a rapid pace
with no major problems. In three days of testing, 182 out
of the planned 201 functional and performance tests have been
conducted. This phase of testing will be completed during the
next week, after which operational type stress testing of the
packet switch system will begin.
