SUBJECT: OC-MPB Weekly Staff Notes, 2 August - 8 August 1987

the Office of Congressional Affairs; discuss subject with
appropriated Directorate of Operations personnel; provide a
briefing to Mr. John Grimes of the National Security Council
staff. These actions are presently underway.
3. Liaison Activities:
a. On 5 August, attended the quarterly
Nationwide Emergency Telecommunications Service (NETS)
Industry Conference held at the MITRE Corporation in McLean,
Virginia. Under contract with the government, American
Telephone and Telegraph (AT&T) has prepared draft
specifications for the NETS system and its major elements
which will be used in subsequent acquisition of NETS
services. Both government and industry have received these
draft specification documents. This session was devoted to
reviewing approximately 400 comments that had been submitted
relating to the specifications and to proposed action to be
taken by AT&T before final documents can be prepared.
