The FMLN-communique released in Managua said
Miss Anaya had been "carrying -out international
missions" of the guerrilla group, which is fighting
the U.S.-backed government in El Salvador.
"This .treacherous crime carried out by sinister
bands of the CIA demonstrates the desperation of the
imperialist aggressors," it said. "The government of
the United States will spare no resource or. means to
carry out its macabre plans."

ties to Cuba and the Soviet Union- Nicaragua .is

Nicaragua said it gives only political support to
the Salvadoran rebels, while Washington claims
Cuba and the Soviet Union funnel weapons and
supplies to the guerrillas through Nicaragua.
