Polish Spy Sentenced
To Life Term in Prison
LOS ANGELES, Dec. 14 (UPI)-
Marian Zacharski, a Polish spy who
conspired to sell U.S. defense secrets
to the communist bloc, was sen-
tenced today to life in prison, and
William. Holden Bell, his Confessed
American accomplice, was given a
term of eight years.
Zacharski,. 30, had - been found
guilty after only two,.days. of jury
.deliberations.. Bell, 61,. a. radar sys.
tern expert at Hughes Aircraft Co.,
confessed to. one count of selling a
secret-, document to communist
agents after being promised a lesser
sentence.
Bell, the main prosecution wit-
ness, testified that he stole and pho-
tographed documents from Hughes
from late 1978 to April, 1981, and
turned them over to Zacharski and
other agents in exchange for gold
coins and cash.
