ATHENS, Dec. 10 (Reuters) - Igor Y. Andropov, son of the late Soviet leader Yuri V. Andropov, will not re- turn to his post as Ambassador to Greece, the Greek Foreign Ministry said today. A Ministry statement said..Viktor F. Stukhalin, 68, had been named as Mr. Andropov's successor. Mr. Andropov has been absent from Athens since mid-July. The Soviet Em- bassy said last month that Mr. Andro- pov, who arrived in Athens in October 1984, has been in Moscow for health and personal reasons. His departure came shortly after Sergei Bokhan, a Soviet diplomat based in Athens, defected to the United States. Prime Minister Andreas Papandreou saiG' tact weeK mat Tive ree is a been identified as s sec spies after Mr. oS~snans defection. Italian Is in New York, Investigating Papal Plot A Italian judge investigating the pur- ported conspiracy to assassinate Pope John Paul II came to New York yester- day to interrogate a former Italian se- cret service agent who is 'in Federal custody here. The judge, Ilario Martella, traveled from Rome to question the former agent, Francesco Pazienza, about as- sertions that he prompted Mehmet All Agca to confess that the shooting of the Pope in 1981 was ordered by Bulgarian officials. Mr. Pazienza was ordered extradited to Italy in September to face charges 'unrelated to the papal shooting. He has been granted a stay pending appeal. The allegations against Mr. Pazienza ,in connection with the papal shooting have emerged from often-contradic. -tory statements by Mr. Agca, the Turk- ish gunman who shot and wounded the Pope in 1981, and by Giovanni Pandico, a convicted racketeer who turned, state's evidence. Judge Martella was assigned by the Rome court to investigate allegations that have been made in testimony against a number of individuals, in- cluding Mr. Pazienza, during the papal shooting case to determine whether any charges should be brought against them.
