Precedent
A U.S. federal judge has just found
the Soviet newspaper Izvestia guilty
of libeling an American. Izvestia said
the man, who ran a medical-supply
business in Russia, was a spy and
kicked him out of the country. The
court also found the Soviet govern-
ment in default on the man's claim
that the Russians owe him $300,000 in
unpaid bills. Said the libeled man's at-
torney: "I feel like Captain Kirk on
the Starship Enterprise, going where
no man has ever gone before." The
Klingons would be a cakewalk, how-
ever, compared with getting that $300,-
000 out of Commander Gorbachev.
