Hewas78yearsold. Doctors did not disclose the cause of Mr. Rose's death Wednesday, a family friend in Montreal said, and his widow and daughter have not decided whether he will be buried in Canada or in Po- land, where he was born Fred Rosen. burg in 1907.,, . Mr. Rose was arrested in March 1948: and sentenced to six years in prison for his espionage activities, which included reporting to Moscow on a secret war- time session of the Canadian Parlia- ment in. 1844. He automatically lost his seat in Parliament when convicted.. He left Canada after serving four and a half years of his sentence, moving to Czechoslovakia and later to Poland.
