PUBLIC AFFAIRS

14 March 1984
Mr. Michael J. Westerfield
Secretary
Willimantic Museum Association, Inc.
P.O. Box 752
Willimantic, CT 06226
Dear Mr. Westerfield:
Thank you for consulting us regarding the Willimantic Museum
Association.
It would of course be premature to attempt to formalize any
arrangement between us for screening "CIA-related material." May I
suggest that before doing so we wait to get a better feel for the volume
of such material. Please feel free to correspond with this office in
the meantime and as developments occur.
CIA is on the record as favoring the concept of an intelligence
museum, although we have consistently viewed as inappropriate any direct
role in of such an institution. You may wish to
contact who has recently been successful in enlisting
the conceptual support of the United States Senate in establishing just
such a museum. He may be reached at the following address:
National is orica Intelligence Museum
5205 Benton Avenue
Bethesda, MD 20852
Sincerely,
George 4. Lauder
Director, Public Affairs
