they hear from Washington & Wall Street
Volume IV, No. 5
February 18--Inside source confided that CIA is frantically
reviewing its secret operations to determine whether any U.S.
laws have been violated. Under former director William Casey,
CIA engaged in covert activities that may have gone beyond law.
Former CIA counsel Stanley Sporkin created paperwork that
provides legal basis for dubious projects. But he utilized
more loopholes than laws, source said. Casey also dealt
directly with Lt. Col. Oliver North, without confiding in
subordinates. Fear is that Casey may have implicated CIA in
North's wild schemes unbeknownst to his successors. CIA has
learned that North was running half-a-dozen covert operations.
