It's about time. I've been reporting for a year on these two renegades. They were indicted for smuggling explosives to Libya, but they jumped bail and fled overseas. Wilson is hiding out in Libya. Terpil is be- lieved to be in Lebanon. Well, now I've learned that Terpil and Wilson may have been involved in actual or attempted assassinations in this coun- try. The Justice Department has evidence that links Wilson to an attempt on the life of a Libyan student in Colorado last year. The suspected assassin knew Wilson had met him not long before the shooting. As for Terpil, the government has his own words to ac- cuse him. He was secretly taped by New York undercover agents two. years ago. He undercover cops were posing as Latin American terrorists. Terpil agreed to sell them machine guns, explosives, and other deadly devices. Well, then the renegade CIA man asked -- I'm quoting from the secret tapes -- "You guys aren't knocking off Americans, by any chance, are you?" Well, one of the undercover agents said, "No. Come on. Would I go around knocking off Americans? Oh, come on." Terp i I s a i d -- t h i s I s his taped retort -- "We l l , we have in the past." That was an astonishing statement. The former CIA agent was claiming to have killed American citizens. OFFICES IN: WASHINGTON D.C. ? NEW YORK ? LOS ANGELES ? CHICAGO ? DETROIT ?
