A stream of mourners in-
cluding Secretary of State
Shultz paid their respects in
Long Island yesterday to for-
mer CIA Director William Ca-
sey, the spymaster, lawyer
and presidential adviser who
died this week.
A wake for Casey, 74, who
died Wednesday of pneumo-
nia, was held ;it hi esl4t4e in
exclusive Roslyn harbor, a

A security force of CIA and
Secret Service agents and
Nassau County police
screened visitors at the gate
to the property, which bor-
ders on- a golf course and the

Shultz, his wife and more
than 100 other visitors were
greeted at the door by Casey's
widow, Sophia, and his only
child, Bernadette Smith.

Flowers were delivered to
the house, where Casey's
body V14 op vie"in!gei , ,
casket in the parlor.
Shultz arrived in a motor-
cade at 1:30 p.m. and stayed
20 minutes before returning
to Washington.
Other dignitaries were ex-
pected in Long Island today,
the second day of the wake,
and for his funeral Mass at
T R. Qt. tomstrowv at -St.
Mary's Catholic Church in
Roslyn Harbor.
President Reagan is to at-
tend the Mass at St. Mary's, a
small, brick-front church on a
hill overlooking the harbor.
The church 'seats about 340,
and attendance is expected
to be by invitation only.
Casey, an adviser to Presi-
dents Richard Nixon, Gerald
Ford and Reagan, headed the
Central Intelligence Agency
for six years. He died six
months after surgery to re-
move a malignant brain tu-
mor.
On Feb. 2, almost two
months after surgery, he re-
signed as CIA chief under a
cloud of questions about the
spy agency's role in the Iran-
Contra scandal. His death left
many questions unanswered.
