The move would underscore Reston's already developing reputation as a center for top-secret defense-related business. The CIA will lase the entire 266,000 square feet of office space at Reston Cor- porate Center on Sunset Hills Road and reportedly has an option on two buildings that would be'added to the office park. There is enough mom on the 5%-acre site for an additional 450,000 square feet of space, according to a source close to the negotiations. The CIA would not comment on its move 'to Reston, and no one would detail which of the super-secret agency's operations were involved. But the move was confirmed by three sources familiar with lease negotiations. If.the CIA occupies all four buildings planned for the three-year-old development-which could amount to over 700,000 square feet-it would probably become the second largest employer. in Reston, behind only the U.S. Geological Survey. The Survey occupies about 1.4 million square fat of office space and employs about 3,000 people, ac ordina to GE Space Systems Division, which was One of the buildings at lesion Corporate Center to be occupied by the M. the main tenant at Reston Corporase Center; moved out of its 170,000 square feet of of- fice space lace week and relocated to 60,000 square feet at Parkridge Center at the eastern end of Sunrise Valley Drive. The CIA said it don not reveal the loca- tion of any of its offices other than its head- quarters in Langley. GE spokesman Jones said his company moved into smaller offices at the Parkridge Center June 30. Jones said GE needed leas space because of a "lull in business.- He said the number of employees in Revlon has been cut back from about 330 to about 250. Raton is already a major jobs center for several high-clearance defense-related com- panies. More than 2,000 Reston jobs are provided by such companies as Sperry, which makes guidance systems for rockets carried by jet fighter bombers, C-3, which Iac~ computer systems for Army missile operations and Scope Inc., which develops electronic intelligence systems for use in sir defense and antisubmarine warfare.
