Egypt's Interior Ministry said Menashe was the diplo- mat's secretary. One woman was wounded in the leg and the other was hit in the arms and face, said a spokesman for the Israeli Embassy. Yesterday's attack took place in Maadi, an upper- class suburb 10 miles south of Cairo, where many foreign diplomats and representa- tives of foreign companies live. The Egyptian Interior Ministry said Atrakchi, who had been posted in Cairo for three months, "was not among those persons for whom the Israeli Embassy had requested an Egyptian security escort:" It said Egyptian authorities had taken additional security measures after the incident. Investigators found 17 shell casings from a sub- machine gun that had been fired at the Israeli car, according to a Foreign Ministry official. "We very strongly con- demn this criminal act," an Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesman said. "Egyptian authorities will take all legal steps to track down the per- petrators and bring them to trial."
