Shah's son says
Iran throne will
be his someday
Reza Pahlavi 11, the eldest son
of the late Shah of Iran, has one ob-
session - to become emperor.
Under Iran's constitution, Pah-
lavi, 26, succeeded his father as
"king of kings" at age 20.

He captured attention Sunday when he denied kno

In foreign policy, strategic in-
terest often comes to clash with
moral obligations," he said. "But in
the case of Iran, they both point to
the same solution - overthrow

Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini's
revolution in 1979 drove Pahlavi's
father out of Iran. The shah died in
exile in 1980.
Pahlavi was last in the news in
June, when he married Yasmine
Amini. He has homes in the New
York area and in Morocco.
Asked by Lesley Stahl how he
knows the people of Iran "want to
go back to the shah," Pahlavi said
he would be a different ruler than
his father, but sidestepped outlin-
ing what the differences would be.
He called the USA's sale of arms
to Iran "morally unjustifiable."
In a dark suit and tie, Pahlavi
cuts quite a different. figure than
the unshaven minions of Khomei-
ni.
Pahlavi was educated in the
USA and has a political science de-
gree. He's an expert at flying jets,
the kwon do, and enjoys skiing.
