Early in 1957, after completion of an extensive period of professional development training as an internal Junior Officer Trainee, was assigned as its Administrative Officer. This was the beginning of a distinguished phase of this'officer's career during which he served in a variety of general support positions in Headquarters, the Far East, and Europe. Included in these assignments was a tour of duty as the Deputy Chief of Support during the difficult and demanding period between July 1966 and March 1968. was a charter member of what has become the MG Career Service, and his performance in various assignments during the 1960s and the 1970s set standards of performance for the many MG officers who were to follow his path. His work consistently demonstrated a total dedication to delivering the best possible support both in Headquarters and at Field installations to the important operational mission of the Agency. His quick mind, high energy level, and ever- increasing knowledge of how to bring the Agency support mechanisms to bear of operational problems served him well in each of his assignments and brought him high praise from the demanding supervisors he served during this period. Worthly of special note is the fact that he was a master at maintaining that critical balance between delivering on a timely/basismuch needed support to operating components, on the one hand, and ensuring that Agency procedures and legal requirements are not violated on the other. His integrity, candor, and personal charm permitted him to establish personal relationships with those he served, and this facilitated his ability to function as a fully participative team member in the wide variety of organizations in which he served.
