On 12 June 1984 at 1:00 p.m., Larry Gershwin, National Intelligence Office for Strategic Programs, attended Hearing of the Full Senate on the Soviet Space and ASAT Programs as the Intelligence Communit ' technical referent. Dr. Gershwin was accompanied by s Liaison Division, Office of Legislative Liaison. The only transcript taken was that taken by the official Senate recorder. The hearing was at the SECRET level although the debate verged on codeword material several times. Dr. Gershwin and were sworn to secrecy. 2. During the debate, technical questions were asked of Dr. Gershwin by Senator Warner, who presented the briefing, and Senators Wallop and Moynihan of the SSCI who were active participants in the discussion. Dr. Gershwin answered their questions privately and did not speak directly to the Senate. Senators came and went during the 1 1/2 hour session, but at least 50 were present throughout. Debate centered, as it did in open session, on Soviet ASAT capabil' nd US ability to monitor even a partial ASAT Tom Blau, SSCI Tom Connolly, SSCI Douglas Graham, SAS John Campbell, SAS Donald Massey, Dept. Sgt. at Arms Mark Albrecht, Sen. Wilson's staffer treaty.
