OFFICE OF THE SERGEANT AT ARMS
ROOM S-321. THE CAPITOL BUILDING
WASHINGTON. D.C. 20510
April 6, 1984
Mr. Claire E. George
Director
Office of Legislative Liaison
Central Intelligence Agency
Washington, D.C. 20505
As a result of the new security measures put into effect on
Capitol Hill, many of your people have found it difficult to
enter the Senate office buildings in order to make appointments
or attend hearings. With the tourist season soon to be upon us,
entering these buildings could become even more difficult due to
long lines of people waiting to be processed through our security
checkpoints. Therefore, we have designated a special entrance
that you and your employees may use as long as you have your
government IDs with ;ou. This entrance is at First and C Streets,
N.E., Dirksen Senate Office Building. The general public will
not be permitted to use this entrance, therefore you should no
longer encounter long waiting lines. We have designated this
entrance in the Dirksen Senate Office Building due to the fact
that a majority of committee hearings are held in this building.
We hope that this change will make it easier for you when you
visit the United States Senate.
While the First and C Street entrance is reserved for your
use, you should continue to feel free to use any of the other
public entrances we have in the Senate office buildings. In
addition, the North and South entrances of the Capitol Building
are also reserved for your special use.
If you or your colleagues have any questions or problems
regarding these new security measures, we hope you will feel free
to contact us.
Larry E. Smith
