SUBJECT: Draft Response to Chairman Boland, HPSCI, re R)IA Commitments
Attached is our draft response to Chairman Boland's 13 April letter to
the Director seeking to confirm the commitments we have made during the
consideration of our FOIA legislation. Please note that the letter makes it
clear that we have not made a commitment to respond to new FOIA requests within
the statutory 10-day time limit. Our commitment during the HPSCI hearing was
in terms of weeks, or months, as stated in the letter (which I had verified
by HPSCI minority staff reviewing the hearing transcript).
Please review and inform us of any comments you may have by COB tomorrow
(25 April).
