SUBJECT: Reading of the Inspector General's (Tr,) RAnnr*
1. House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI)
staffer, Dick Giza, visited Headquarters earl Friday aftern
22 June 1984, to read the IG report 25X1
printed on the 8th of June, and to loo a the background 25X1
report which 25X1
2. In a telephone conversation with Steve Berry earlier on
Friday, I was told that some of the staffers were upset that the
report was not made available to them as soon as it was
published. I explained to Steve Berr that the report was dated
on 8 June, which was the day tha in fact, 25X1
finished it. I also explained that the report had to be routed
through several levels of the Agency and was, indeed, not
approved for reading by anybody outside the Agency. Three SSCI
staffers and Tom Latimer read the report the first day it was
available. Mr. Berry asked for access to the report, but said
he probably would not be able to get to it until after the
recess started. Berry said Giza would be reading the report and
would brief him on its contents. If he felt it was necessary,
he would ask that it be made available for him to read. I
