My dear Mr. Casey:
Ed Fouhy and I are glad that you could'take the time
today to have lunch with a few of us. We all found
the dialogue valuable, and I hope you and Mr. Lauder
will want to meet with us again from time to time.
Broadcast journalism, as you know, is the same species
but a different breed from the overall print press:
our standards and performance are at least as high,
but our impact is greater and more immediate and we
operate under tighter and more frequent deadlines.
I can't. promise that we won't make you mad sometimes,
but I guarantee that broadcast journalists, at least
at ABC News, are fair, responsible and professional.
I look forward to seeing you again, and Ed and I extend
an open invitation to you or your aides and employes to
talk to us about our practices -- or your complaints --
and to visit and tour our facilities here.
