Dear Mr. Moody:
Thank you for your letter of 21 September 1984 in which
you and nine other Members of the House of Representatives
expressed concern about reports of abductions by armed
Nicaraguan opposition forces.
STAT
Let me assure you that this ency neither participated in
nor countenanced the Akidnapping of STAT
and The Central Intelligence Agency STAT
does not condone such acts against the civilian populace.
The House Permanent Select Committee on intelligence has
been interested in the plight, of STAT
and this Agency has been continually providing such information
as has come to our knowledge to that Committee. In accordance
with procedures established by the Congress, I am required to
respectfully refer you to the Oversight Committee.
This letter is also being provided to Congressmen John F.
Seiberling, Mervyn M. Dymally, Berkley Bedell, William J.
Hughes, David E. Bonior, Ted Weiss, Robert W. Kastenmeier,
Robert Garcia and Les Aspin.
