The Honorable Glenn M. Anderson
House of Representatives
Washington, D. C. 20515
Your Administrative Assistant, Mr. Robert L. Freeland,
of a letter you received from
concerning the kidnapping of
Raymond Hooker, a Nicaraguan citizen.
First, please assure that the Central
Intelligence Agency (CIA) neither participated in nor
countenanced the MISURASATA's kidnapping of Raymond Hooker
and two companions. The Agency does not condone such acts
against the populace.
Secondly, the three individuals were released on
30 October and were reported to be in relatively good
condition, according to Sandinista press reports.
I appreciate your having provided us the opportunity to
respond to the allegations of any CIA involvement in this
matter.
With best wishes for the Holiday Season.
Sincerely,
Charles A. Briggs
Director, Office of Legislative Liaison
