As you know, Secretary Bowen held a press conference yesterday to
announce the release of the Department of Health and Human
Services Report to the President on Catastrophic Illness
Expenses. The Secretary briefed the Domestic Policy Council on
our report last Wednesday afternoon.
Since the Report will probably receive considerable media and
Congressional attention during the coming months, I thought it
would be helpful for us to give you a brief overview of the
report and to answer any questions you might have on the subject.
I would like to extend an invitation for you to join me and
several of our colleagues for a briefing on the Department's
proposal at 10:00 am on Tuesday, November 25, 1986. The briefing
will be held in my office, suite 416-G of the Hubert H. Humphrey
Building, 200 Independence Avenue, S.W. Washington, D.C. 20201.
I anticipate it lasting approximately one hour.
