The Office of Technology Assessment is performing an increasing number
of studies that require our analysts to have access to Sensitive Compartmented
Information (SCI). In the past, OTA has been able to utilize Sensitive
Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIF) belonging to others. However, the
requirements of our current study of SDI Technologies, which was mandated by
Public Law 99-190, will necessitate construction of our own SCIF.
In this regard, I request assistance from your agency in the design,
inspection, and certification of an accredited group of rooms or installations
at OTA where SCI may be stored, used, discussed, and/or electronically
processed. OTA's Administrative/Security Officer, Tom McGurn (224-3695) has
been in contact with members of your staff concerning this request and will be
available for further contact on this matter.
Your timely assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
