STONE Chairman International Information Committee 3669 Encutk Registry 86- 02/ 95- X RCA FILE 44.-14 e RECPT # Record SUBJECT: Public Diplomacy Working Group on Countering Libyan Support for Terrorism (U) The Sixty-Day Public Diplomacy Strategy on Countering Libyan Support for Terrorism and establishment of a special IIC Working Group under the chairmanship of Philip W. Arnold, is approved. The group should work closely with the Interdepartmental Group on Terrorism (IG/T) and other elements of the national security community involved in that effort. (S) The Working Group should begin implementation of the strategy immediately, and provide an interim report on progress by June 15. A final report should be submitted by July 15. (S) The Working Group should call on resources and assistance as necessary from other concerned members of the community in implementing this important effort. (S) In particular, the cooperation of the intelligence community is essential to make available to the public relevant information on Libyan support for terrorism. The preparation and publication of such materials should be given high priority. One additional full-time consultant's position for the sixty-day period to assist in this effort is authorized.
