SUBJECT: Briefing for House Foreign Affairs Committee
Staffers Regarding Drug Trafficking in Mexico (U)
1. On 14 July 1986, at 1000 hours, in room 2D03
Headquarters, House Foreign Affairs Committee Staffers Tom
Smeeton, Arch Roberts, and Marian Chambers received a briefing
regarding dru trafficking in Mexico from the following Agency
personnel: DI/OGI. STAT
2. The briefing focused on such things as the corruption
within the government in connection with drugs; crop esti-
mates; crime organizations; and the fact that there will
likely be no improvement seen in the near future with respect
to drug trafficking in Mexico.
3. The briefing lasted approximately 2 hours and there
were no outstanding questions.
