The Senate Subcommittee on Foreign Operations has asked the Director, OCA, for a briefing on the terrorist situation in Beirut. The briefing has been scheduled for Monday, 16 June 1986, at 1100 hrs in S-125. Three staff members of the subcommittee will attend: Jim Bond, Richard Collins and Jane McGhee. The last mentioned is handling arrangements for the TS (non-codeword) session, including the security measures for a classified briefing in Mr. Bond's office. Her telephone number is 224-7250. The three staffers have TS clearances. 2. The subcommittee is responsible for recommending funding to overseas installations, including support to the ican University of Beirut. the subcommittee has been informe o pro ems a , especially threats of violence and coersion against the institution. These problems appear to impact on the level of fu-~ding which the USG will provide. 3. The NIO for Counterterrorism and a DI analyst will provide the briefing on 16 June.
