1. We look forward to working with the Engineering Division of the
Office of Communications in exploring a MERCURY alternative for our
domestic network.

1. The Engineering Division welcomes the opportunity to join
with CIT in assessing alternate applications of the MERCURY
System for the domestic field environment and participating in
the development of a plan which addresses both near and long term
MERCURY related implementation strategies for the domestic
network. There is a broad range of considerations that must be
addressed that will require the combined expertise of our
respective organizations and a commitment of resources to ensure
