Dear George:
1 6 FEB 1988
I wish that I had been able to see you in Acapulco, but my schedule has
been hectic these past months and I had a change in plans. In my September
29th letter I said that I would pencil in the June date of the Private
Investments Abroad Symposium on my calendar. I have really tried to juggle my
schedule, but I now find that I still have several commitments to sort out,
and I do not want to hold you up. I think it is more appropriate for me to
decline at this point. I know you will understand. ,
Please give my regards to Marilyn. Best wishes for a successful program.
Sincerely yours,
H. Webster

Dear Bill:
FEDERAL EXPRESS
February 3, 1988
I regret very much missing the opportunity
to be with you at Acapulco and discussing, %
further, the forthcoming June, 1988 Symposium on
Private Investments Abroad at Dallas. However,
since my November 24 letter to you, a helpful
member of your Public Affairs staff telephoned me
to advise that you might be in a position to make
a final decision early this year.
The program has come together nicely and I
expect to go to the printer before the end of this
month. Accordingly, I hope very much that we can
confirm your appearance in Dallas on Wednesday,
June 22.
Please feel perfectly free, Bill, to remain
flexible with regard to your remarks; a generic
presentation title in the program should preserve
that flexibility.
Again, I hope very much events conspire so
that you can commit to the appearance. Meanwhile,
Marilyn joins with me in sending along our very
best wishes to you, as always.
Sincerely,
GWC:jd
