Speakers Program Director of the Junior Statesmen Summer School, h1r. Ted
Green, has invited you once again to meet with 200 high school students who
have been chosen to attend the 48th annual Junior Statesmen Summer School in
Washington. The meeting will be in the Old Executive Office Building, either
20 July or 2 August, for 30 minutes sometime between 9:30 a.m, and 4:00 p.m.,
to be arranged at your convenience. As you recall, you spoke to the Junior
Statesmen group in 1985.
Since we deferred the invitation last year to Academic Coordinator
I suggest that we again ask him to handle it this year. You are
already scheduled on 20 July for your portrait unveiling at the FBI and you
have vacation plans for 2 August. If you agree, I have attached a letter of
regret for your signature.

Thank you for inviting me to meet with students selected for the annual
Junior Statesmen Summer School on July 20th or August 2nd. Unfortunately, my
schedule is filled for those dates and I nn ever, I would like
to suggest that~our Academic Coordinator speak to the
students in my place as he did last year, has addressed academic
and student audiences all over the country, and I think he could provide your
-group with a view of intelligence affairs that would be informative and
interesting. A member of my Public Affairs Staff will be in contact to
discuss arrangements.
I would like to commend the Foundation for educating our leaders of
tomorrow in the workings of the US Government. I wish you a most successful
summer program.
Sincerely-.yours,
1s! OV~liaam H. tester
