The Honorable William Webster

Washington, D.C. 20505
Dear Judge Webster:
+ , ?. As Ranking Member of the committee on Foreign Relations,
I. urgently request the classified report which the-CIA has
compiled-on the international effects of the AIDS epidemic.'I
understand that the world wide effects of this plague are
reaching catastrophic proportions -in Africa, Latin- America,
the Carribbean, and will, -in the near future, reach similar
levels of infection in the United States and Western Europe.
The implications for our security, military, and financial
assistance, not to mention our defense posture abroad, are
staggering.
I am convinced that the analysis contained in this
report would be of immense benefit to our national security.
clearance, Dave Sullivan, is the point' jA.
My staff member on the Committee with
. . I appreciate your assistance in releasing. this document
which will help begin the process of establishing an
effective policy to combat this disease.
With very best regards, I am,
Sincerely,
