The General Accounting Office has been requested by Senator Helms
to develop a detailed cost analysis of the proposed treaty on
intermediate-range nuclear forces

Defense officials indicated that the Director of Central
Intelligence coordinated and submitted the intelligence cost
estimates related to the INF treaty for FY88/89 from the various
intelligence agencies.
We therefore request access to (1) the supporting documentation for
the FY88/89 cost figures, (2) any available projections of treaty-
related intelligence and counter-intelligence costs for fiscal
years 1990 and beyond, and (3) break-outs of projected recurring
and non-recurring costs.
