Washington, D.C. 20270 Dear Judge Webster: December 28, 1988 We are Co-Chairmen of the first annual Congressional Scholarship Awards Dinner established by The Fund for American Studies. This bi-partisan, non-political event is an outgrowth of the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship Awards Program which began in 1975. The Congressional Scholarship Awards Program provides financial assistance for students to participate in the Institute on Comparative Political and Economic Systems and the Institute on Political Journalism at Georgetown University. This year's dinner honors our colleague, Dick Lugar. The dinner will be held on March 7, 1989 at the J.W. Marriott Hotel. A cocktail reception at 6:30 p.m. will precede the 7:30 dinner and a brief program. We would personally appreciate your acceptance of our request to serve on the Honorary Dinner Committee. As an Honorary Committee member, your name would be listed in the dinner invitation and. program and we hope you will attend the dinner as our guest. A. member of The Fund's staff will call you in the near future to answer any questions you may have and to seek your response.
