SUBJECT: Contacts with Congress
1. This memorandum responds to former DCI Helms' request
to you for information on our contacts with Congress.
2. In calendar year 1987 CIA had the following contacts:
*4,000 classified publications provided
01,150 briefings provided to committees, Members,
and staff
DCl/DDCI involved in approximately 90
160 were formal committee hearings/briefings
0175 formally mandated reports provided
3. I see no problem if you wish to provide this level of
unclassified detail directly to Helms for him to use in any
forum. If you prefer, I would be happy to call him, although
that might prompt him to ask for more detailed information
that we would prefer he not use.
