In your 23 May 1988 letter, you asked that the 5 May 1971
transcript of testimony given by former Director of Central
Intelligence Helms before the Committee on Foreign Relations
be reviewed for additional selected declassification. After
careful consideration, we agree that the following passages
may be declassified and released for use by researchers at
the National Archives:
Page 37, lines 2 through 25
Pages-38 and 39 through page 40, lines 1 and 2
The remainder of the passages requested for declassification
continue to be classified.
In the course of the document review, the Agency has
determined that pages 42 through 44, 73, 75 and 90 through 93
could be declassified. This declassification must be
coordinated with the Department of State.
