Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2012/10/04: CIA-RDP90M00005R0009001-20.021-2- S TAT STAT STAT STAT STAT I Ak I MEMORANDUM FOR: FROM: SUBJECT: Director of Logistics OCA 88-2770 16 August 1988 OCA FILE._ Congressional Affairs Congressional Staff Inquiry on Reston 1. Yesterday, Edward Levine from the Senate Intelligence Committee called the Office of Congressional Affairs to report that he had heard that the Agency was planning to give up on the and move to other facilities. 2. After talking with the Comptroller and I spoke with Levine on 16 August. I reported that the Agency had no intention of walking away from Reston unless we were unable to fulfill the Congressional mandates. Some in the Office of Logistics were beginning to think about the very long term and our space requirements beyond the year 2,000. Nothing was even in the planning stage, and, at this point in time, any considerations to such facilities could only be considered highly speculative. Levine then asked about the status of the Reston negotiations. I informed him that was just completing its master plan which would probably be furnished to in about six weeks. The Office of Logistics had recently identified as the consultant but this consultant would not become involved in any negotiations for at least another two months. 3. Levine was satisfied, indicating he would be back to me in a few weeks when he would like a more detailed status report. 4. During our conversation, Levine identified the source of hi 'nformation as "someone in the Real Estate Division." STAT While and I both discount Levine's claimed source, I asked to mention at the next Logistics staff meeting the prohibition against employee contacts with Congressional staffers.
